15.3hh 9 year old grade gelding, UTD on all cares
Tom is a very respectful horse on the ground. He has never offered to bite or kick, he is ok with dogs and cats running around under him. He has hooves hard as rocks and is good for the farrier and vet. Trailers well. Stands well to be saddled and mounted. He was sent to a performance horse trainer while with his previous owner and it shows. He has a ton of buttons and is very sensitive to your seat and legs, he also is very soft in the mouth. He is broke W/T/L, neck reins, has a big stop, spins, sidepasses, picks up correct leads, opens gates, previous owner said he can do sliding stops but I haven't tried. He's got a huge stride and a nice collected lope.
He has been used for trail riding, barrels, games, and has been exposed to cattle and worked the flag. I've also swung ropes off him.
I will only sell to an experienced rider or someone working with a trainer, as he has a big motor, is very reactive and quick on his feet.
The cons:
He is buddy sour. He has an anxious personality and will rear/act up if he is overwhelmed. I've spent most of my time with him working on his problems and at this point I feel he would be better off with someone else. He can be a really awesome horse but needs someone who can understand his personality better than me. I haven't had the desire to ride him lately so he's been sitting for a couple months.
